their kids workshops
our workshops are FREE and open to anyone of any identities in hopes to build a supportive network of allies who are socially engaged in elevating the lives and experiences of queer, trans, and gender nonconforming people.
intro to gender workshop
to increase visibility and acceptance of queer, trans, and gender nonconforming identities, their kids offers an intro to gender workshop on understanding, deconstructing, and reimagining gender.
join their kids as we examine the gender binary as a social construct and the ways in which gender is performative. we will discuss how to have conversations about gender with children and how to support and affirm children in coming into their own gender identities.
we will explore how to approach commonly asked questions from children (and adults!) such as, "are you a girl or a boy?" and statements like, "boys don't wear dresses" and "Sammy has long hair so she's a girl."
we will also examine how gender identities are constituted through socialization and how the pervasiveness of gendered messaging, clothes, toys, and language serve to perpetuate gender oppression.
stay tuned for upcoming workshops with partner organizations!
